1. About these terms

These terms govern use of the Personal Observatory website and development previews we expressly make available for testing. Personal Observatory is a project for organizing individuals' health records and observations for personal research. Features described on the website may be planned rather than available. You may stop using the website or a preview at any time. Any separately agreed testing terms also apply to that testing.

2. Information, not medical care

Personal Observatory does not provide medical care, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency monitoring. Using it does not establish a clinician–patient relationship. Records, summaries, AI-generated responses, and research hypotheses may be incomplete or wrong. They are not a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional.

Do not change medication, treatment, or delay seeking care based on a preview or generated output. For an emergency, contact your local emergency services.

3. Development and sandbox use

Invited testers must be at least 18 and use only fictional records or designated synthetic test accounts. Do not upload identifiable health information, another person's records, or real patient-portal credentials to development previews or an EHR sandbox. Test data may be reset or removed, and previews may change or become unavailable without notice.

A sandbox connection demonstrates a test workflow, not access to every healthcare provider or readiness for real patient data. Production access requires a separately available service, applicable privacy disclosures, and the user's authorization.

4. External records and services

Only connect accounts you are authorized to use. Provider services determine what records they make available and may limit, change, or withdraw access. An import may omit records, contain errors, or become outdated. Verify important information with its original source. Third-party services have their own terms.

Revoking a connection at its provider stops future authorized access; it does not itself delete copies already imported. Removing a local imported copy does not change the provider's original record. The current sandbox importer is read-only and does not keep refresh tokens for ongoing collection.

5. Your content and data

You retain your rights in content you provide. For invited testing, you permit us to process the synthetic content you submit as needed to operate, troubleshoot, and evaluate the preview. These terms do not grant permission to sell health records, conduct unrelated research on identifiable records, or train general-purpose AI models on them.

This public website is informational and does not provide a health-record upload or patient-account registration form. Hosting systems may process ordinary request metadata, such as IP addresses and requested pages, to deliver and protect the website. Do not send medical records or passwords through ordinary email.

Before production health-data collection becomes available, its privacy notice and consent flow must explain storage, service-provider and AI processing, access, retention, export, and deletion. These website and sandbox terms are not a substitute for those disclosures. A preview does not establish end-to-end encryption or a compliance certification.

6. Responsible use

Use the website and previews lawfully. Keep test access credentials private. Do not try to access someone else's account, bypass access controls, introduce malicious content, disrupt systems, or present test results as validated clinical findings. Security or load testing of third-party systems requires permission from their operator.

7. Website and software

Personal Observatory and its licensors retain their rights in the website, software, and branding. These terms permit ordinary website use and expressly invited testing; they do not transfer ownership of the software. Separately supplied open-source licenses continue to govern the components they cover. Third-party names identify their respective services and do not imply endorsement.

8. Availability and limitations

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the website and development previews are provided as available, without warranties of uninterrupted operation, accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Do not use a preview as your only record of important information. We may restrict access to protect users or systems, address misuse, or discontinue a test.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability or limits consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. These terms do not require arbitration or waive your right to bring a claim where applicable law permits it.

9. Changes

Updated terms will be posted here with a new effective date. Material changes to an ongoing testing arrangement will be communicated through its established contact channel. New uses of personal health information require applicable disclosures and authorization; updating this page alone does not provide that authorization.
